What is an impact entry door?

An impact entry door is a door system, not just a slab: the door, frame, glass inserts, hinges and locks are tested together to resist windborne debris and wind pressure. Any glass in the door is laminated impact glass.

We help you choose the style, glass and finish, then install the whole system so it seals, latches and operates the way it was approved.

Extra glass around the door for light, sized to the opening.

Painted, stained and modern metal-look finishes.

  • Hardware

Handles and locks that suit the style and the approval.

  • Pivot upgrade

Oversized pivot doors for a statement entrance.

Before you buy

What to know before replacing an entry door

  • Swing direction matters

Inswing and outswing doors are approved and installed differently.

  • The frame is part of it

Replacing only the slab does not make an opening impact-rated.

  • Glass affects privacy and light

Choose textures and tints that suit the room behind the door.

  • Permits apply

Exterior door replacements usually need a permit and inspection.

Questions

Questions about entry & exterior doors

Still deciding? Call (239) 789‑2802 and talk to someone local.

Do impact front doors have to swing out?

No. Both inswing and outswing impact doors exist. The right choice depends on the product approval, the opening and how the entry is used. We confirm it when we measure.

Can I keep my existing frame and replace only the door?

Usually not if you want impact protection. The door, frame and hardware are approved as a system, so the opening is replaced together.

Can an impact door have a lot of glass?

Yes. Impact doors can include large glass areas as long as the glass is laminated impact glass and the door is approved in that configuration.

Do you install French doors?

Yes. We install impact French doors as well as single and double entry doors and side doors.
